About the Meta Smart Glasses:
Meta Smart Glasses are smart glasses that use artificial intelligence (AI) to complete tasks that the individual requests using voice commands and touch gestures.
They can connect to Apple and Android devices with Bluetooth and use the Meta AI App. An Apple device must be running iOS 15.2 or later. An Android device must be running 10 and up. The Meta Smart Glasses cannot control things on your device such as opening an app for you, but you can speak to the voice assistant while wearing the glasses and control your device that way.
Meta Smart Glasses Basic Features:
Use voice commands and touch gestures on the glasses.
Mostly hands-free use.
Eye-level live artificial intelligence.
Open-ear audio. Hear the device, but still hear the surroundings.
Connect wirelessly with bluetooth.
Rechargeable battery.
Videos up to three minutes long.
Talk to the voice assistant (Siri, Gemini, Google, Bixby, etc).

My Recommendations as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist:
For individuals not buying the glasses through a low vision specialist, I recommended the Wayfarer with clear lenses with a black frame. The Meta Smart Glasses can have tinted lenses and can have a person’s prescription.
I recommend exploring the free accessibility features available on smartphones and tablets before buying smart glasses as they can do the same things.
For iPhone and iPad users there are features such as Siri Voice Assistant and VoiceOver screen reader.
For Android users there are features such as Gemini Voice Assistant and TalkBack screen reader.
Free apps that read, identify colors, identify money, and describe things such as SeeingAI app, Envision AI app, Be My Eyes app, Live Read app, Speakaboo app, and EyeNote app.
People I recommend the Meta Glasses for:
People who can’t use their smartphone or tablet.
People who can’t use a voice assistant, magnifier apps, and talking camera apps.
People who need a handsfree option.
People who need a discreet device to use in the community.
Getting Started with the Meta Smart Glasses:
Download the Meta AI app.
Open the glasses case and pull the tab up out of the case.
Pair the glasses to the device using the Meta AI app. Put on the glasses and open the app to begin the pairing process.
Orientation to the Meta Smart Glasses Case:
On the top of the case is a raised, circular bump. Just underneath this bump is where the case can be opened by pulling up. The bump is the charging light indicator.
On the bottom side of the case in the middle is the charging hole.
On the inside of the case is a small part in the middle of the bottom side. When putting the glasses back in the case, the nose part goes on top of this small inside part.
Orientation to the Meta Smart Glasses:
The power switch is located on the inside of the left arm by the joint. It is a small, raised, and flat circle.
The camera is located on the front of the glasses on the left side of the left lens in the top left corner. It feels like a circular hole.
On the top side of the right arm near the front is the capture button. It is a raised, flat, oval shaped button.
The touchpad is located on the outside of the right arm just past the raised logo on the side facing towards the user. It feels smooth.
Charging the Meta Smart Glasses:
Use a USB-C cable to charge. Plug the cable into the charging hole located on the bottom side of the case. The light on the case is green when fully charged and orange when not fully charged.
The Meta AI App:
The Meta AI App is a free app that’s available on the App Store and the Play Store. The Meta AI App is required to use the Meta Smart Glasses.
In the bottom right corner of the screen is the Devices Button which is shown as a glasses symbol. From this screen, you can select the glasses image or the Settings Button in the top right corner to open the Settings. It’s important to regularly check the Settings to make sure that the glasses are up to date.
To connect the phone, go to the communication section of the device settings. Then connect the phone. Open the settings app and go to the bluetooth section. Select the glasses and turn on show message notifications and sync contacts.
